On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yes, it really
is 2018, and I must say it is a pleasure, privilege and challenge for all of us to enter into another year
of entrepreneurship. Whether you have been doing this for decades or are just getting started, you
have accomplished that which is the dream of so many Americans. As business owners, we all have
the privilege to do what we love and make a living at it.

Each New Year brings with it not only the privilege of owning our business, but also the challenge of
growing our business. The core of being profitable stays constant, but the need to be creative, learn
and grow and do whatever it takes to make this year better than the year before is our number one

As I was pondering what I wanted to write to you, the word I kept coming back to was
COMMUNITY. I researched the word and the one definition that really struck a chord was this one:
“Self-organized network of people with common agenda, cause or interest, who collaborate by
sharing ideas, information and resources.”

That to me says it all. As a community of brokers, store owners, and buyers we are a self-organized
network of people with a very definite common agenda; to bring the best products to our customers in
the most efficient way possible – and to do so through working together as a community. Within that
community, we strengthen our collective goals and resources for serving our consumer base.

I know it is the goal of the UMAGA Board of Directors, and the reps that call the MinneapolisMart
home, to work hard to make the mart a relevant place for you to shop and network with like-minded
people. We want to continually grow with you, offering new and more lines and improving our
skills and technology to make buying easy for you. Recently, we discovered that the MinneapolisMart
carries more than 300 lines that are not found in Atlanta or Las Vegas. MinneapolisMart leaseholders
are continually bringing in new lines and striving to keep our selections relevant to the Midwest
experience. It is a privilege for all of us to have this incredible mart so close to home.

At the core of community are relationships. Our hope is that this local mart provides an opportunity
for all of you to create relationships with reps. We hope that those relationships will be a source of
education, resource and profitability to you. We encourage you to seek us out. Give us your ideas,
express your needs and feedback and actively take advantage of working locally with a rep that truly
cares about your business.

We hope that 2018 is a year of great success in your business. Thank you for your continued support
of the MinneapolisMart. We all look forward to working with you and truly collaborating our shared
ideas, information and resources.

Here’s to a great 2018.
